Jay Z and Beyonce’s Vegan Cleanse Success

If you watched the Grammy’s last weekend you may have seen Beyonce and Jay Z opening the show looking just a little more incredibly fit and healthy than usual.

Apparently they recently completed a 22 day vegan cleanse and released 110 lbs. between them. Beyonce shed her post-baby weight and Jay Z looked slim and trim in his tuxedo at the Grammys (above right).

I fact-checked this information and there are a ton of articles about this power-couple’s foray in to the vegan lifestyle. One article talked about the dangers of cleansing. But a vegan cleanse or a raw cleanse like our 21 Days Raw Cleanse (http://21DaysRAW.com) is not like an extreme juice fast or liquid cleanse that most people think of when they talk about a cleanse/detox. It is far safer and more moderate. You can do a vegan/raw cleanse without hunger, dizziness or fatigue. You still get the incredible benefits of cleansing but in a way that is sustainable as a long-term way of life.

Jay Z posted on his website…

On December 3, one day before my 44th birthday, I will embark on a 22 Days challenge to go completely vegan, or as I prefer to call it, plant-based! This all began a few months back when a good friend and vegan challenged me to embrace a “plant-based breakfast” everyday. It was surprisingly easier on me than I thought…

Why now? There’s something spiritual to me about it being my 44th birthday and the serendipity behind the number of days in this challenge; 22 (2+2=4) coupled with the fact that the challenge ends on Christmas day…It just feels right!

So you can call it a spiritual and physical cleanse. I will post my progress … I don’t know what happens after Christmas. A semi-vegan, a full plant-based diet? Or just a spiritual and physical challenge? We’ll see…

Fellow hip-hop producer and long-term vegan Russell Simmons tweeted:  “welcome to the club, Jay and Bey”. It’s a growing club for high-powered personages from world leaders like Bill Clinton and Al Gore to celebrities like Ellen Degeneres, Portia de Rossi, Kristen Bell, Russell Brand and even Brad Pitt! Many CEOs and famous athletes are vegan too. (A friend of mine is Serena Williams’ personal Raw Vegan chef).

Jay Z and Beyonce’s personal trainer reports that the cleanse was easier than they imagined…

They feel great. Energy levels, everything. I don’t know what they expected, if they thought they’d be eating grass all day. We’ve cooked some delicious meals here at home — home meaning the hotel in LA. I imagine most people think they have 10 chefs cooking 15 different unbelievable vegan meals at all hours. But, the truth is, we’ve made do with what we have in our surroundings”.

Thanks to Jay Z and Beyonce for bringing Vegan in to the spotlight! Wishing you and Blue all the best of health and happiness!
