A Green Juice a Day to Welcome Spring

Join me in drinking a green juice a day during March, or until spring begins March 21st….or at least for that green day, St. Patrick’s Day March 17th (co-incidentally the day before my 21 Day Cleanse Program begins on March 18th)…..You may never want to stop!

This is not a green juice fast, just an idea to do this one good thing for yourself every day! You may notice though that you’ll naturally eat healthier than usual once you start this habit, and that you simply won’t reach for or crave unhealthy items. Or if you do crave them, that’s as far as it goes. You may find yourself being with and maybe even observing or considering the craving, but somehow never really deciding to act on it.

I heard the phrase in a movie once; “She’s Ugly-Beautiful” or it might have been “Beautiful-Ugly”. Anyway, I resonated with it. My own face seems to change drastically with my moods and with what I eat, all over the beautiful-ugly map! — even more so now at 45 than ever.

I really see it with raw food. I can be cruising along doing my little controlled cheats on my 99% raw diet, but then I might slip down around 95%, which might still work for me depending on what that 5% cooked food consists of.

But if I make too many poor and really poor choices too close together, it can reflect in my face for days or weeks. And if I get on a repeat downward spiral the cumulative results are really noticeable.

Here’s me during an addictive bout some months ago….I think I look like I’m drinking but no, I was “just” eating on a (clearly) similarly toxic level.

But then I can be 100% raw for a few days, do some working out, and drink some green juices and suddenly I look 10 years younger.

It is just amazing to me how fast I can age and de-age depending on what I do these days!

I’m jaw-droppingly amazed at the destructive power of many cooked foods to literally make ones face look like it is decomposing! And the amount of weight it can put on me so quickly!

Equally or even more astounding and flabbergasting is the power of eating 100% raw foods in combination with green juicing to reconstruct, revive, regenerate and rejuvenate the face and body – and how quickly!

And why do cosmetic and plastic surgery industries even exist when they don’t even come close to achieving the results of a simple green juice a day?!!

– Perhaps because people like me don’t always have the desire to take care of themselves….(but that’s where The Joy Concept comes in which is actually rewiring me to be better at self-care!)

Maybe I should be grateful for my Canary in a Coal Mine Face that tells me point-blank what and how my body prefers to eat.

These are some pictures I took of myself a few days ago when I was doing 99%-100% raw with a-green-juice-a-day for a few days. I thought I’d like to do some kind of campaign on The Garden Diet Facebook page with them, like “A Green Juice a Day in March to Welcome Spring” or “Let’s drink green juice on St. Paddy’s Day”, since these are just a few days apart, and what an improvement over green colored water or alcohol to celebrate with!

Also as the world is turning more green in Spring, we can bring some of this green inside our bodies and burst forth with new life ourselves, in harmony with the season!

I kind of like my changeable face; I never know what I’ll see when I glance in the mirror! I think my Gemini nature also causes me to have multiple personalities as far as my ever-changing appearance.

And now that I’m changing my emotional brain with The Joy Concept I have even more varied moods and am seeing more authenticity, so I sort of feel like I’m discovering my true self when I get these glimpses, and that this true self really is always growing and changing – I don’t have to pin myself or others down with labels or keep me/them in a box for easy categorization any more. I’m becoming more embracing of the fluidity of life.

Here are some of my favorite green juice / green lemonade recipes…

Green Juice Lush

– 1 bunch dandelion greens

– 1 bunch celery

– 3 cucumbers

– 3 apples

– 1 lemon

 

Green Lemonade

– 1 bunch any greens (kale, spinach, dandelion, parsley)

– 2-3 cucumbers

– 2-4 apples

– 1 lemon (just juice the whole thing, rind and all)

 

Saint Patrick’s Day Green Lemonade

– 1 bunch spinach

– 3 cucumbers

– 3 apples

– 1 lemon (just juice the whole thing, rind and all)

    A bottle like in the pictures, about 32 oz a day. I’ll take an hour or two to sip it.

    Apple are compatible with veggies and takes the edge of green off for people who can’t take the green taste..and we know how good nutritional Apple’s are… I like the apples indeed

    Hi Jinjee, this is your Winnipeg girl here. Thanks for sharing those photos. I’m glad I am not the only one who sees change either way within a couple days! My skin on my whole body tells me if its happy or not. I swing too between 99% raw and vegetarian (yes, I have eaten cheese and wild fish). At 36, I am trying to find the happy place between feeding my non vegetarian family (husband is total meat and potatoes guy), and a high raw diet. I was wondering if your teens did not deal with depression or moodiness because they ate raw?

    Would these green lemonade recipes work in a blender, or just a juicer? To be honest, I don’t juice like I should because the juicer takes so much work to assemble, disassemble, clean, etc.; whereas my Vitamix blender is so easy to use.

    Jinjee, you are such a beautiful woman. whether you eat cooked food or not. I totally am hearing you with the change of face thing though …I started back on raw a couple days ago and also feel like I lost ten years off my face….amazing..i was thinking same thing..what the point of cosmetics?
    I also think what could the inside of our body look like if the out side is looking so rough…blessings to you
